Fifa 11 Tips And Tricks - Part 1

DO NOT ALWAYS USE THE SPRINT BUTTON
This is one of the most important things in FIFA 11. Most people are already aware of this but you still see many people constantly pressing the sprint button in midfield. Use the sprint button only when you have enough room. Without sprint you are much more agile and you can pass more accurate.
SET ANALOG SPRINT
Set your sprint-button in controller options to analog instead of digital. This allows you to accelerate but you will keep your dribbling maneuverability (depending on how far you press the sprint button).
STAY ‘RELAXED’ IN DEFENCE
Use low pressure and stay calm in defence. Avoid using too much ‘second press’. Practice in exhibition games to switch players with the right stick instead of the “switch-button”. Use the right stick in the direction of the player you want to control. For example, this allows you to use the ‘second press’ button to defend your opponent. Now you have the possibility to defend and to give also cover with your selected player.
AVOID EXCESSIVE USE OF THROUGH BALLS
As soccerlegend Johan Cruyff once said: “As long as your team got the ball the opponent can not score.” Possession is King! Therefore do not use continuous those risky ‘through balls’ or blind rushing to your opponents goal. So play with care.
PRACTICE FREE KICKS IN FIFA 11
As in FIFA 10 free kicks in FIFA 11 are very important. So practice. And practice. Check our Freekick Tutorials section for how to perform as a free kick specialist.
EXPERIMENT WITH FORMATIONS
The perfect formation does not exist. Each formation has its advantages and disadvantages. It also depends on your available players, opponents and your own playing style. Therefore, test various formations. Most used formations are 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 4-1-2-1-2 and 4-3-3.
SWITCH IN GAME TO OTHER FORMATIONS
When your team is put under a lot of pressure and you play for instance 4-1-2-1-2, try to switch to 4-3-3. This allows you to play more on the wings which makes it easier to keep possession.
